Continuing on from my previous woodworking escapades I thought I’d try my hand at making a serving board and started with some scrap wood which I had in my loft. It had obviously been used as a shelf as it had brackets on it, but had been chucked up there by the previous owners and now was the time to give it some TLC.
I enjoy recycling and repurposing, and mostly use pallets, but this couldn’t resist this opportunity. As you can see it was pretty tatty and I had already cut out a handle by the time I remembered to take a photo.
Et Voilà! After lots of planing, sanding, and the addition of a vintage stencil it’s finished! I’ve got to say I’m very happy with how it turned out.
Having the stencil on there means it’s not really suitable for putting food on, but great for putting little serving pots on, or drinks etc, and I will make some more that are oiled and safe for use as cheeseboard, platters, etc too.
What do you think?
