Bluebells at King’s Wood, Challock

King’s Wood at Challock, Kent is just a couple of miles down the road from my home and so with the sun out the wife and I went for a trek to see the bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) which appear there every year.

Of course it also gave me a good excuse to take my camera and get some shots of these amazing flowers. I love the contrast of the blues with the rest of the browns and greens in the woods and the reason they stand out is because bluebells grow best in undisturbed soil where trees cut out the sunlight and prevent other plants growing, so woods are a great place to find them.

The bluebells are only in flower for a month so the best time to see them in between late April and late May. If you don’t get a chance to see them then I’ve saved the day for you and you can see the photos below.

A video treat

I also took my action cam with me too, so got to take a video as well as photos and be a little creative!
